Drops terms
1. What drops are
Drops are a digital credit for use only within BukTale, offered by BukTale. They are not money, not a deposit, do not earn interest and have no monetary value outside the platform.
2. How to get them
- Buying drop jars on the "My drops" page. Payment is processed by Hubmy through its payment provider; BukTale never receives or stores your card details.
- Promotions or gifts that BukTale may occasionally offer (bonus drops). Bonus drops are governed by these same terms.
Drops are credited to your wallet as soon as the payment is confirmed. The price of each jar is shown before purchase and includes any applicable taxes.
3. How you can use your drops
- Support authors: from any chapter you can send drops to the story's author (minimum 10 drops per send). It is a voluntary gesture of support; you are not buying goods or services from the author.
- Unlock a VIP chapter without a subscription: 25 drops per chapter.
- Read an early-access chapter before its public release: 50 drops per chapter.
Chapters unlocked with drops remain available in your account while the work stays published on BukTale. If the author removes the work, BukTale may refund, in drops, unlocks made in the last 30 days.
BukTale may add new uses for drops and will let you know. The drop price of each use is always shown before you confirm.
4. What you cannot do with drops
- Redeem or withdraw them for money, currencies, crypto-assets or any other value.
- Transfer, lend or gift them to other readers.
- Sell, buy or trade them outside BukTale.
- Use them outside BukTale or with third-party services.
Any attempt to trade drops or obtain them fraudulently allows BukTale to cancel the affected drops and suspend the account.
5. Drops sent to authors and royalties
When you send drops to an author, or unlock a chapter of their work, the author does not receive redeemable drops. BukTale pays them a monetary royalty for the license of their work, calculated under their Licence and Royalty Agreement. Sending drops is final: it cannot be undone or claimed back from the author.
6. Refunds
- Drop purchases are non-refundable, except for duplicate charges, technical errors preventing delivery, or where the applicable law requires it. In those cases contact support within 14 days of the purchase.
- If a payment is refunded, voided or disputed (chargeback), the purchased drops are deducted from your balance. If you already spent them, your balance may become negative and you will not be able to use drops until you top up.
- Spent drops (sends and unlocks) are not returned, except as provided in section 3.
7. Balance validity
Drops do not expire while your account is active. If you delete your account, or BukTale closes it for a serious breach of the Community guidelines, the remaining balance is lost without compensation, unless the law provides otherwise.
8. Minors
If you are a minor, you need permission from your parent or legal guardian to buy drops.
9. Changes to these terms
When we publish a new version we will notify you on BukTale and with a push notification. You will have 24 hours to review and accept it; after that period it will be considered implicitly accepted. If you do not agree, you can stop using BukTale and delete your account at any time. You can reread the version you accepted at any time from My account › Legal documents. Drops you already hold can still be used for the purposes in force when you bought them.
10. About BukTale
BukTale is the name of this reading and writing platform. BukTale is not registered as a company, partnership, business or any other legal form, and has no legal representative. In these documents, "BukTale", "we" or "the platform" refer to the service and the people who run it. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by the consumer protection laws of your country.
